Conquering the Inca Trail was a huge physical challenge, but watching the sunrise from the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) with Machu Picchu unfolding before our eyes made every step worthwhile. The best route to explore southern Peru! Watching the condor soar over the Colca Canyon in Arequipa and then sailing through the floating islands of Lake Titicaca in Puno was magical. But the highlight was Cusco; the hike to Rainbow Mountain was very challenging due to the altitude, but those Andean landscapes are an unreal spectacle.
